SWORDS FOR SALE

Honourable Artillery Company Officer's Sword by Warren VR

Description: This is a very nice example of this sought after pattern. Condition is good throughout; the shagreen and wiring to the grip are present and undamaged (though there is some very minor movement between the wiring and the grip), the guard has the odd scuff but retains traces of the original gilding and the blade retains some of its polish. The etching to the blade is exceptionally fine and incorporates the VR cipher to one side and the letters HAC and a monogram for ‘TC’ or ‘FC’ to the other. Traces of gilding remain on the scabbard mounts, though they also have the odd minor scuff to them. The leather scabbard is in one piece, though it has a single ‘fold’ close to the lower mount. Made by Warren of Cursitor Street, London, who operated at this address between 1846 and 1871.

Provenance: None known (as yet).

Price: Final Sale Price Withheld.
