1821 Light Cavalry Officer's Sword - WIV, Pipe Backed

Description A good quality early example of the 1821 pattern light cavalry officer’s sword. The pipe-backed blade has a quill point and bears the cipher for William IV (faint). The grip retains nearly all of its original shagreen, with just some slight damage near the pommel, and the wiring is in good order. There is some patination to the guard commensurate with its age and the blade is very lightly tarnished overall. The scabbard is in good order, with no major dents or dings, both rings are present and it is lightly tarnished overall. The blade is firm in the hilt with no movement though it is loose in the scabbard as the wooden scabbard liners have gone. No makers or regimental marks on the sword or scabbard.

Provenance: None known.
