A Pair of Scots Guards Officer's Swords by Wilkinson dated 1869 &1874

Description: A rare chance to acquire a pair of swords originally purchased by the same Officer.

Sword No 16312: A medium weight Scots Guards Officer’s sword. The blade is in exceptional condition and retains almost all of its original polish. It is etched with the Guard’s battle honours and regimental badge as well as the owners monogram and personal cipher. The shagreen to the grip is in good order and the silver wiring is present and correct. There is a nice patina overall to the guard and the exterior of the scabbard. The scabbard retains its original wooden liners and it is complete and undamaged.

Sword No 19535: A picquet weight Scots Guards Officer’s dress sword. The blade is in fine condition with just some slight staining to the lower third of the blade. The blade is etched with the Guard’s battle honours and regimental badge as well as the VR cipher. The grip is in good order with the shagreen and silver wiring intact and there is a nice patina to the guard and the exterior of the scabbard. The scabbard is complete and undamaged and it retains its original wooden liners.

Provenance: Both of these swords were originally the property of Capt Hon Arthur Hay David Fraser. He was the son of Alexander Fraser, 18th Lord Saltoun of Abernethy. He died of typhoid in Palermo in 27th Jan 1884.
