SWORDS FOR SALE

1897 Pattern NCO's Sword by Wilkinson ER VII

Description: This is a fine example of this pattern of sword. The hilt is in good condition with just one area of tarnishing to plating on the inside of the guard. The shagreen and wiring are in excellent order and the blade is firm in the hilt. The inside of the guard is stamped ’7.1903 V 4.R.F 4’.

The blade is also in good order with only one area at its mid-point where the plating has been degraded (though this should be easy to repair as required). The ricasso is stamped with the WD marks for the period to both sides with one side stamped ‘Wilkinson London’ and the other with ’18’02’.

The scabbard is in excellent condition and the blade fits it well.

Provenance: The marks on this sword indicate that it was issued to the Royal Fusiliers (4 Coy?).
