SWORDS FOR SALE

1897P Royal Engineers Officer's Sword by Wilkinson 1938

Description:

The plating to the hilt is in excellent order with just one extremely minor defect to the front of the guard. The shagreen and wiring to the grip is present, correct and undamaged.

The beautifully etched blade has the emblem of the Royal Engineers to one side with the Royal Arms to the other. There are some very minor areas of staining to the edges of the blade, but none of these affect the etched areas and would polish out with a little care.

The ceremonial scabbard retains all of its original plating and is defect free apart from some very minor lifting of the plating on the chape.

A super sword from the renowned maker Wilkinson that is in extra fine condition; this sword would enhance any collection as well as being suitable for parade use by a serving officer.

Provenance: This sword is numbered 67197 for 1938; unfortunately the Wilkinson’s register entry for this sword is empty.

Price: Final sale price witheld
