1892 Pattern Infantry Officer's Sword GRV by Wilkinson

Description: A very fine example of a Great War period infantry officer’s sword for an officer of the RAMC. The blade is in excellent condition and retains nearly all of its original polish with just a few areas of minor staining at the point and along the spine of the blade. It is beautifully frost-etched with the GRV and Royal Arms to both sides of the blade and carries the Wilkinsons trademark and proof plug at the ricasso. The Wilkinson’s number is 46323, probably for late 1914 or early 1915. The blade has been sharpened as required prior to active service.

The shagreen to the hilt is undamaged and the wiring is intact. There are some slight traces of gilding to the guard which is in fine condition barring the odd very slight mark.

The leather scabbard is in excellent condition with just some slight corrosion to the scabbard throat and some minor scuffing to the leather chape.

Provenance: None known; the Wilkinson’s register entry for this sword is blank

Price: Final Sale price witheld
