SWORDS FOR SALE

1854 Pattern Welsh Guards Officer's Sword by Wilkinson ERII

Description: A good example of this pattern of sword with a beautifully etched blade by Wilkinsons. The hilt has a few faults; a stock number has been engraved into the guard and the hilt retaining nut is loose. The silver wire binding to the grip is in good order, though the leather grip itself is obviously a replacement of what would originally have been shagreen. I think that this sword has been re-hilted at some stage, though with a little attention from a restorer they can be easily rectified.

The blade is absolutely flawless and is a delight to behold. It is etched with the Wilkinson’s logo at the ricasso and has the Welsh Guards battle honours etched to both sides of the blade. It also has the Welsh Guards regimental badge to one side with the royal cypher for Elizabeth II to the other. The blade retains all of its original polish and has no defects.

The scabbard is also in exceptionally good order with no damage or other defects.
