SWORDS FOR SALE

1854 Pattern Scots Guards Levee Sword by Wilkinson No 51110

Description: Rare attributable Scots Guards levee sword and scabbard in fair condition.

The hilt has lost nearly all of its original plating, though the wiring to the grip is complete and the shagreen is in good condition for its age.

The blade is in good condition with just some minor staining to the area near the point (this would most likely polish out). The etching is nice and clear and the blade carries the name of W. Ogilvy and the number 51110 for Jan 1916.

The scabbard is in fair condition with the retaining strap missing but is otherwise complete.

Provenance: Formerly the property of Walter Ogilvy who was gazetted as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Scots Guards on 29th Jan 1916

Price: Final sale price withheld
