1821 Pattern Volunteer Artillery Officer's Sword by Gaunt - Initialled

Description: A nice example of this pattern of sword which probably dates from circa 1900. The transition type blade is nicely etched with the RA cypher, though the Royal cypher is absent, and it retains most of its original polish as well as carrying the owners initials RMF. The hilt has light surface corrosion overall, while the grip is in fine condition; the wiring is tight and there is no movement between the blade and the hilt. The accompanying leather service scabbard has a damaged chape but otherwise it is in fair condition.

Provenance: None known.
