SWORDS FOR SALE

1821 Pattern Heavy Cavalry Officer's Sword by Lonsdale & Tyler

Description: This is a high quality battle-sword with a pipe-backed blade and early type guard. Lonsdale & Tyler operated from Covent garden from 1835 to 1845 so this sword must date from this period. The blade is etched with the the retailers name to one side of the ricasso with the motto ‘warranted proved’ to the other side. Both sides of the blade are etched with the VR cypher. The grip is in fine condition and there is no movement between the blade and the hilt. There is some light tarnishing to the hilt overall, and there are traces of old polish, while the blade retains a significant amount of its original polish with just a little tarnishing. The sword fits well to the scabbard, which has light tarnishing overall.

Provenance: None known.
